Interns

Introducing our two student interns for 2025-2026

Why see an intern? Our interning therapists are otherwise known as "Therapists in Training". They are directly supervised by our licensed therapists on staff and meet weekly for individual as well as group supervision. They are educated, knowledgeable and provide a safe space for all clients. Insurance does not allow us to bill for interns, so their sessions are set at a cash rate. This allows freedom for flexibility, no requirement for standardized diagnosing and ability to work with clients more easily with otherwise difficult financial situations.

Meet Our Therapists in Training

Sabrina Diaz-Barnett

Sabrina is a MSW student at UW-Whitewater. She is working towards specializing in: anxiety, depression, trauma, sex/intimacy relational healing, chronic health conditions, grief/loss, motivational interviewing, creating healing modalities (incorporating art, beauty, self-care), and neurocriminology. Sabrina works with ages 12 and older and has an interest in working with adult couples as well. Sabrina offers a warm, inviting space for clients to share their stories as she helps them navigate their next steps in their journeys.

Shannon Stearns

Shannon is a MSW student at UW-Whitewater, getting ready to graduate in May 2026! Her counseling approach integrates psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive-behavioral perspectives, allowing me to adapt support to each child or adolescent’s unique needs. She is especially passionate about helping young people navigate challenges such as anxiety, stress, self-esteem, school pressures, and life transitions. Having lived with Crohn’s disease since childhood, she brings a personal understanding of the resilience and emotional strength it can take to manage ongoing challenges.
